Enjoy the silence. Experience the seasons. Leave everyday life behind. See nature. A small refuge for people and animals was created in Friemersheim 106 years ago: the Kruppsee. If the “Toepper” attracts athletes, this inland water attracts more leisurely people.
It must have looked a bit desolate in 1898. Then Friedrich Alfred Krupp decided to expand the hut. What he needed were tons of sand and gravel. There were plenty of them here. And so the big industrialist also sent 'voles' to Bachstrasse.<< The ASC and a US Jeep in the pond. >>
Their work didn't take very long. The ground beneath what is now 13.4 hectares of lake area was quickly excavated. Rainwater collected and marked the birth of this gem of the local landscape.
In 1924 the first leisure activists came and founded the Rheinhausen/Niederrhein Fishing Club. Only ten years later the club leased the lake and before the war the foundation stone for an anglers' home was laid. In 1963, the Krupp company gave the entire area to the city. As a result, the Petrijüngers from then on called themselves ASC Kruppsee Rheinhausen. The club's anniversary was only properly celebrated in August of this year. When fishermen reminisce about the past, sometimes bizarre things emerge. Herbert Haak recently recalled: “There’s another American Jeep lying in the pond…”CONTINUED and FURTHER INFORMATION:
