There are more than 40 burial mounds in this forest. They have never been scientifically investigated. The size of the group indicates that they must be fire mounds from the Ilzer period, built between 500 BC. and the beginning of the common era. During that period, the dead were burned and the charred remains of the pyre were covered with a mound of sods. The wall located in the eastern half of the forest probably functioned as a boundary for arable land. The rampart and burial mounds were restored in 2001-2002.
