In the original house, the part where the Cognac room and the kitchen are now, five single sisters lived from 1724 to 1780: the Jufferen Lunsingh. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the farm came into the possession of the wealthy notary and mayor Johannes Tonckens. He built a large front house in front of the existing house.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the large barn and the cube-shaped country house in English style were built onto it. Het Witte Huis derives its nickname from this country house.
In 1999, Wyncko Tonckens, who grew up in the farm next to Het Witte Huis, bought the country house. Together with his wife Ellen Drenth, he restored the monumental building to its original state and established the Country House Hotel Restaurant De Jufferen Lunsingh there.
Many striking details from the different periods have been preserved. This way you can fully enjoy the fireplaces, windowsills, beams, wooden floors, old cupboards and large fireplace with smoke hooks.
