Since Verden is often called a "civil servant town," a fountain dedicated to them is a must. The fountain, crafted from sandstone by sculptor Frauke Wehberg, is meant to represent the course of the Aller River. Its proximity to the town hall and the civil servants who work there led to its nickname, "Civil Servants' Drinking Fountain."
