El Portillo Visitor Center and Botanical Garden

Be sure to stop here to learn more about the island's history, flora and fauna. Here you will find information boards and a small botanical garden. Walk past this so that you can recognize more and more plants on the island afterwards.

The El Portillo visitor center offers very interesting information about Mount Teide, the national park and the animals that inhabit it. It has lots of interactive panels and elements and you can even see inside a volcanic tube. Admission is free, so don't miss out.

The center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Right next to it, there is a botanical garden that is open 24 hours. When the visitor center is closed, the garden gate is also closed to keep animals out. It is important that you keep it that way if you enter or leave the enclosure.
