Tahula Fortress was built by the Spanish in 1609 in the town of Tidore Kepulauan at the foot of Gunung Kie Matubu. It was used as a weapons depot and for defense against the Dutch. The fortress is located on a hill above the city and can be reached on foot via stairs.
