In 1781, the first attempt to harness this spring to supply water to the town of Büchenbronn failed due to technical challenges. In 1868, the first water pipeline supplied three wells in Büchenbronn. From 1890 onward, the more abundant springs replaced the water supply.

Small spring with a bench but unfortunately no drinking water. A small nature path leads to the source.

At this point / I would like to quickly / say something about the source:
To quote the incomparable humorist Heinz Erhardt (1909 - 1979), who was known to a wide audience for his word jokes and "Noch'n poem", with a short quatrain:
"There is certainly much beauty in
          on the element, the wet.
Because you can drink the water.
But you can - also leave it."
          (H.Erhardt)

The name Kühberquelle comes from the original medieval settlement of Büchenbronn. In 1781, the first attempt to use this spring to supply the town with water failed due to technical challenges. In 1811, the hydraulic engineer Tulla came up with the idea of driving a 620m long tunnel under the Kreuzstein. Construction was stopped in 1813 due to lack of funds and was not completed until 1868. From 1868 until the 1890s, the spring supplied three wells in Büchenbronn via the tunnel from the game reserve to Adlerstrasse.

It used to be an important source for Büchenbronn's water supply
