Piazza del Popolo is one of the most famous squares in Rome. It is located in the IVth Rione and was since ancient times the place where the visitor entered Rome, when he traveled from the north via the Via Flaminia or the Via Cassia in the city.

When you stand on the Piazza del Popolo you can hardly imagine this
beautiful square, one of the largest and most beautiful in Rome was used a long time ago
as a place of public execution. Three major straight traffic axes come together here, the Via di Ripetta, the Via del Corso and the Via del Babuino. In the middle is the 24-meter high obelisk from Egypt that has adorned the square since 1586.
