The Lützelburg, also known as Vorder-Lützelburg, is one of the 3 Ottrotter castles, which also includes the Old Lützelburg, of which only the round tower foundation can be seen, as well as Rathsamhausen Castle, 40 m away.
The castle was built around 115o and in 1356 in the Anglo-French Empire. War destroyed. Together with the neighboring castle of Rathsamhausen, it was rebuilt by the Lords of Rathsamhausen-Ehenweyer and awarded as an imperial fiefdom.
During the Thirty Years' War, the castle, which had not been inhabited since 1570, was finally destroyed and has been in ruins ever since. The Ottrott castles are open to the public when volunteers are present on the site:
TUESDAY mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m
SATURDAY all day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
They are closed in bad weather.
Outside these slots, the castles can be visited upon special request, which you can send to us on the GROUP VISITS page

Magnificent Alsace castle, very well maintained and preserved! One of the most beautiful in the area. A must see!
