Hiking

for a few hundred meters, the Neanderlandsteig runs here on the route of the horse-drawn tram, which was built in 1857 and ran from Velbert into the Hespertal north of what later became the settlement of Langenhorst. A historical monument of the mining era: the "Schleppbahnbrücke Oberlangenhorstbeeke", a single-arch quarry stone bridge of an old horse-drawn towing railway in Velbert. The reason for the construction of the small bridge was the exploitation of the ore mines in Heiligenhaus and Velbert. The history of mining on the Velbert ridge goes back to the Middle Ages.
