The Schafgraben connects the Maschinenteich in Sanssouci Park with the Potsdam Havel.

The Schafgraben is an important link in the water systems of the city of Potsdam. It connects the waters in the Sanssouci Park (Machine and Peace Pond) with the Potsdam Havel. Water is pumped from the Havel Bay to the Ruinenberg, from where it flows through the waters of the parks and reaches the Havel again in the Schafgraben. The banks of the Schafgraben are mostly paved and often narrow due to the adjacent buildings.
