The church was almost completely destroyed in the great fire of 1641. The new building, which was completed in 1649, was led by the Italian master builders J. Cipriani and F. Canevalle, who built the church in the baroque style. But already in 1686 it was rebuilt again. The Italian builder G.A. de Maggi redesigned the front facade to its current appearance. Since then, the cathedral has been renovated several times, but its appearance has remained the same.

Mountain biking

The construction of this cathedral is dated back to the 13th century. It was built to serve as a parish church for the royal city of Budweis. In the period 1518-1535 it was rebuilt in the late Gothic style. In 1641, practically the entire building was destroyed by a major fire, so it was rebuilt again and given a baroque look.
