Part of the path here bears the name "Les Fosses". The name refers to the numerous wells in the scenic (or bocage) landscape (characterized by a patchwork of pieces of land, with many hedges running through them, as if they were the "scenery" of a decor).
These pits are the result of the ancient exploitation of limestone on the surface.
