At the Vismarkt, as the name might suggest, fish was sold. In the old toll house (1899), also called the Minck House, the fishmongers had to pay a toll. Further on there are two beautiful covered sales stands. You can reach the Fish Market via the Fish Gate with a large image of the sea god Neptune.

Until 1714, the western arm of the Ieperlee ran here in the open air. That year it was covered over, which widened the Waterstraat that ran along the river.
