Liverpool Scottish Stone and Memorial R.E.Grave are two small special and serene memorial monuments. RE. Grave for the 8 Tunneliers and the 4 infantrymen who were killed on this site while digging during the underground warfare in 1915.

Tombstones cannot be found here. The mortal remains rest deep beneath this memorial. Excavation was impossible. They rest together where they performed their heroic deeds in the battle in the defense of the Ypres Sailent 1915.

Liverpool Scottish Stone is a sober memorial consisting of an upright 'keystone' that originally stood above the barracks gate in Liverpool. The capstone was donated in memory of the dramatic battles on Bellewaarde Ridge by the King's Regiment on June 16, 1916. Of the 542 volunteers, 79 soldiers were killed, 109 were missing, 222 were wounded. Only 132 escaped unscathed. Also notice the memorial trees that marked the front lines. Behind this memorial, a stone's throw away, you can find one of the 33 deep mine craters. The large pit behind this Memorial went off on February 14, 1916 and is aptly named after Valentijn. "The Valentine's Crater". Further in the forest on Bellewaerde Ridge, many traces of the underground mine battle can still be found.

Located on the crater forest, a site that was a hotly contested position both above and below ground.
