The Silesian Museum is located in the Renaissance house Schönhof and in 3 connected houses. The Schönhof is the oldest Renaissance building in Görlitz, built in 1526 over the remains of the previous building that was destroyed in the city fire in 1525. The architect was Wendel Roskopf, the Elder. Inside, a central hall extends over all floors and is a typical Görlitz hall house.
