I rarely see people stop there, but in the small parking lot you will find here, close to the Zwarte Beek, next to some iron sandstone blocks, you will see a poem that Stijn Meuris wrote in 2004 following the opening of a walking area in the Valley. It's called "Ferro". Indeed, "iron". One of the many explanations for the name of the Zwarte Beek is the rust-brown water due to the ferruginous sand, close to all that ferric sandstone in the witness hills in the region. But it is not the generally accepted explanation.

It is no coincidence that Stijn Meuris was chosen to sing the praises of the Zwarte Beek with a piece of nature poetry specially devised for this occasion. Stijn Meuris lived in Halen, so he knows the area around the Zwarte Beek very well. His poem was given a special place along the walking path.
