    Mountaineering

Napes Needle is an iconic pinnacle of rock on the southern face of Great Gable. It's often cited as the birthplace of British climbing, when Walter Parry Haskett Smith soloed it in 1886. A climb to the top of the Needle is an HS at the easiest.
