    Running

The rocky terrain on Esk Pike is brilliant fun to run, and the views down into Langdale and up towards the Scafells are all amazing.

Esk Pike, at 2,904 feet (885 m), is part of the Langdale Horseshoe fell race, the Bob Graham Round and the Joss Naylor Challenge route.

    Hiking

If you squint, from the summit of Esk Pike you can see the tiny people atop Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. Esk Pike is a 2,904-foot (885 m) mountain in the southern Lake District. I've approached it both from Esk Hause and from Ore Gap and both approaches are very similar and feature rocky terrain. From the summit, which is a rib of rock, you really do feel like you're in the centre of the Lake District, surrounded by fells which are both bigger and smaller.
