The Rio Assassini forms the middle section of the channel that runs through the island of Burano from southwest to north and divides it into two areas. At the same time it is the central and busiest part of the island. Cobbled promenades with numerous colorful houses, shops and bars or cafés stretch along both sides of the river. Bridges at the southern end, where the Rio Pontinello branches off as a continuation of the canal to the north, take you to the wide main street Via Baldassarra Galuppi with shops and restaurants, which in turn is connected to the market square with church.
