The former Realgymnasium was built in 1861-1864 as the third major commission from the architect F.A. Stüler to the town hall and church on the site of the former Carmelite monastery of St. Anna.

The basic form of the two-story brick building goes back to Baedecker's designs, while decisive design elements in the historicizing Gothic style, both inside and out, were penned by Stüler.

Today's grammar school bears the name "Gottfried Arnold", who worked as a Pietist in Perleberg an St. Jacobi between 1707 and 1714 and left significant impulses in the school system.

Gottfried Arnold High School

1861 - 1864 according to plans by Friedrich August Stüler, student of Schinkel and main representative of historicism in Berlin around the middle of the 19th century, built in a neo-Gothic style as a grammar school.

The extensive refurbishment from 1994 to 1999 is considered an excellent result of monument preservation work.

The auditorium is one of the most beautiful in the state of Brandenburg.

Gottfried Arnold (1666 - 1714) paved the way for the Enlightenment, primarily through his work "Impartial Church and Heretic History". From 1707 to 1714 he worked as superintendent and school inspector in Perleberg.
