In 1420, the "Peace of Perleberg" was concluded between the Elector of Brandenburg and the representatives of the neighboring areas.
The eastern part of the town hall, used as a department store, existed until 1836. In the years 1839/40, plans by the Berlin architect F.A. Stüler rebuilt the eastern part of the building with three floors and a town hall tower, which is adorned with a golden Pegasus as a weather vane.
