The Red Graben, consisting of several steep gorges, is the result of the "Magdalen Flood" that occurred in 1342

In the summer, the whole of Germany was flooded with heavy rain for four days and in many places the terrain was devastated or even destroyed

designed. The non-barrier-free detour through the gorge leads to the right and down to the left along a railing.

You follow the enchanted path in a wilderness left to nature back to the starting point.

A forestry project flopped here some time ago: spruce trees were planted in order to obtain seeds from the more resistant trees. But the spruces dried up and belong in times of climate change

are no longer the preferred trees for reforestation anyway. Now there is an "anniversary forest" on the eastern side of the ditch, where trees are planted on the occasion of weddings, births, etc. to form a mixed forest.
