This church has changed very little since 1437, which is quite special and not usual in itself. Many people come here to visit the tomb of Alice de la Pole (Geoffrey Chaucer's granddaughter). A lot of the church is here thanks to the vision of Thomas Chaucer (Geoffrey's son) and his Alice (whose husband was the Duke of Suffolk): they founded a chantry chapel and trust.

There are also almshouses here and a school, built in 1432 by Alice and her husband.
