Lake District in the snow: a loop to Scales Tarn
A phenomenal 5-mile walk to Scales Tarn in the snow, frost and rather biting wind: the white magic of the Lake District. A fantastic way to start the new year! The highlight was, of course, Scales Tarn, wild, white with the commanding Blencathra above it.

A superb and wild walk. A loop from Birk Dale in the Yorkshire Dales via the summits of Hugh Seat, Gregory Chapel and High Seat, with fabulous views of the Mallerstang Valley and the Wild Boar Fell massif. In the second half, I climbed up to the mysterious nine tall cairns

This incredible walk - a loop from Chapel-le-Dale near Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales - took me via the majestic Ingleborough with powerful views towards the summit of Whernside and the Ribblehead Viaduct and three separate limestone pavements. The Yorkshire Dales limestone
