The charcoal burner stove is located on the Ehrenberg meadow just outside Rothesütte. This was built in 1942/43 for the production of charcoal. In 1947 it was shut down. In 1993/94 he was renovated and techn. monument declared.

Charcoal burning is an ancient craft that is now – almost – extinct, but in the past it was a decisive factor in the industrialization of entire regions: the blast furnaces of the iron and steel industry, for example, depended on charcoal to reach the operating temperature required for ore smelting. As a result, however, whole areas were once completely deforested by charcoal burning and it is only thanks to later reforestation that forests have emerged again and nature can be seen.
