This stately, three-winged building once housed Saulgau's first town hall. The exact year of construction is not known, but it can be assumed that it began soon after the town was founded. It was first mentioned in a document in 1355. Architecturally, the arcades on all three sides were special, the so-called bread arbors and meat stalls, in which the bakers and butchers sold their goods on market days. On the second floor there was a large hall for holding town meetings and festivities, the so-called "dance arbor".
