When you visit Oderberg, you can't avoid the inland waterway museum. It is Brandenburg's oldest technology museum and a cultural anchor of a place that has long lost its importance as a location for the wood industry and shipbuilding. The museum vividly describes the history of inland shipping as the dominant means of transport in earlier centuries, its industrialization and ultimately its demise. The museum, which used to be a local pub and is now run by a support association, consists of a main building and the small museum park facing the Old Oder with the former passenger steamer RIESA. A visit is a great opportunity to explore Oderberg's very interesting and eventful history in more detail.
