View of Untermaßfeld

The Werra-Burgen-Steig offers a very beautiful view of Untermaßfeld and the Werra Valley.
In addition to the church, you can see the moated castle from the time of the County of Henneberg, which has been used as the central penitentiary of the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen since 1813 and is still a penal institution of the Free State of Thuringia.

The beautiful forest edge path offers new and beautiful views of Untermaßfeld and the neighboring Obermaßfeld. In Untermaßfeld, the current prison, the former moated castle of the Henneberger House, dominates the picture.

It's actually sad that this view is mainly about the prison... but I also took a picture and was actually amazed at how big the complex is...
