A work by Lundberg Teodor (1898).
The blacksmith's son, Olof Persson, was born in 1493. Together with his brother Lars (Laurentius Petri), he studied to become a priest in Uppsala and later in Wittenberg, where he was influenced by the ideas of Martin Luther. The study period in Germany was paid for by Gustav Vasa.
In 1531, Olaus Petri published a document that justifies on theological grounds the transition from Latin to Swedish in worship and the Bible. He also translated the New Testament into our language.
Olaus Petri, "Master Olof", was pastor of the Grote Kerk from 1543 to 1552. He was also buried there.
