Hiking Highlight
The Herrenteich is artificial. It was dammed by monks in the 12th century. Since you were forbidden to eat meat, they put on various fishponds in Reinfeld.

The Herrenteich is predominantly surrounded by natural vegetation such as beech, alder, oak and reed and therefore offers a perfect backdrop for a varied play of colors.
Along the lake promenade you will find two water terraces, dangling benches and lots of other seating areas, from which you can comfortably watch the setting sun.
Before the sun goes down, you can take a walk around the lower Herrenteich on the 3.6-kilometer circular route or cool off in the water at the natural swimming area opposite the lake promenade in summer.tourismus-stormarn.de/de/naturerlebnis/reinfeld-seepromenade-am-herrenteich-252
