Palace complex
The adjoining nave, apart from later additions, also belonged to the palace complex. The "Scharfes Eck" (Sharp Corner) and "Jägergemach" (Hunter's Chamber) are recognizable bastions, of which there were once four in total. The ruins of the former "Stöcke" (stocks) still tower overhead with their remains. William of Orange is said to have received the Dutch delegation beneath the "Wilhelmslinde" (William's Lime Tree), which called on him to join the struggle to liberate the Netherlands from Spanish oppressors. The monument to William of Orange commemorates Dillenburg's greatest son, who became the liberator of the Netherlands.
