It is the so-called Steinfurth Home, built as an industrialist's villa around 1880, from 1922 a railway workers' rest home, later an orphanage and children's rest home. Sold in 1995 to an "investor" who has left it unused ever since. Details on the attached information sign (photo).

A forgotten place, a former children's home. A wonderful facility, great architecture, but unfortunately no buyer. I could imagine a rehabilitation clinic or a holiday resort in the forest.

Hiking

The former Erich Steinfurth children's sanatorium (also: Erich-Steinfurth-Heim, Erich Steinfurth children's spa home) on the Glienberg in the Baltic Sea resort of Zinnowitz on Usedom was a facility of the GDR's state health service and named after the communist German resistance fighter Erich Steinfurth (1896–1934). A real lost place since the fall of communism.
