⚒️Mine mallet and iron⚒️
Symbol of mining.
A sledgehammer and a type of chisel - or: mallet and iron. These were once the most important tools in mining.
It's no wonder, then, that they were used as miners' coats of arms as early as the 16th century.
Operations began in 1873 - operations ended in 2000.
The mine at shaft 4 has received a light installation by the Berlin artist Gunda Förster.
The light installation "Contours" has been on display since December 10, 2021, from dusk until sunrise.
The contours of the 64m high headframe tower and the two mine fans were clad in white LED strips,
which are somehow reminiscent of the film Tron Legacy💡.
