Only a few buildings have survived from the castle in Tangermünde, which dates back to the 11th century. A building was built around 1700 where the main castle once stood, and is now a hotel.
The keep, built in the 14th century, is called the chapter tower because it once served as a granary for the Berlin cathedral chapter. It rises 50 meters and has six floors. Today it is used as an observation tower and offers a wide view of Tangermünde and the surrounding area.

The keep was built during the extensive renovation of the castle complex in the 14th century.
The red brick tower rises over six floors to a height of approx. 50 m on a base area of 9.80 m x 6.70 m.
From the 16th to the 18th century, it was used as a grain store for the Berlin Cathedral Chapter, which is how the name Kapitelturm, still in use today, came about.
After extensive renovation work, it has been used as an observation tower since May 21, 2003.
