There are now a total of 17 “terroir f” points in Franconia and everyone tells their own personal story about the region with reference to the wine. From this point you also have a fantastic view over Würzburg.

Würzburg is not only the city closest to its vineyards - it is also a city that is famous for its excellent vineyards!

Goethe wrote in a letter to his wife Christiane about the Würzburger Stein: "No wine pleases me and I am grumpy when I miss my favorite drink."

Gothe was referring to the Würzburger Stein

The world-famous Würzburger Stein site stretches along the Main in a shell shape north of Würzburg's old town and, at 85 hectares, is the largest single contiguous site in Germany. Its unique geographical characteristics are characterized by the slope and direction as well as the shape of the terrain and proximity to the river - an interaction that creates optimal conditions for growing wine. The Würzburger Stein produces excellent wines of the Silvaner, Riesling and Pinot Blanc varieties. The "Würzburger Stein-Berg" site bears the EU quality seal "protected designation of origin" (PDO).

These are locations that exude the complexity of a region in a very special way. They are places that you remember, where the view takes your breath away, where you can read the landscape like an open book and where you have the feeling that you have been friends with this landscape for a long time. This is how they originated in Lower Franconia in Alzenau (district of Aschaffenburg), Eibelstadt, Frickenhausen am Main, Iphofen (district of Kitzingen), Klingenberg (district of Miltenberg), Oberschwarzach (district of Schweinfurt), Ramsthal (district of Bad Kissingen) Randersacker, Rimpar, Sommerhausen, Thüngersheim, Volkach (district of Kitzingen) and Würzburg under the title "Art and Wine" special places.

Terroir f in Würzburg received a literature balcony at the end of the Rotkreuzsteige above the Würzburger Stein site in 2017/2018, which was realized by the "Stein-Wein -pfad Würzburg" association. As early as May 2012, the client, Stein-Wein -pfad e.V., offered 5000 euros as prize money in an architectural tender. A corresponding vote by the building and regulatory committee of the city of Würzburg on implementation had been available since March 15, 2017. The centerpiece was a so-called anamorphosis on the subject of “Literature & Wine, Goethe's Guest Book, Wine Inspired”, as well as a transparent catwalk that “lets visitors float over the vines” and offers a grandiose panorama. Anamorphosis describes images that can only be seen from a certain angle or with the help of special mirrors. A projection was made on 13 square steles at Steinberg, which, depending on the angle and direction of the sky, shows the viewer a portrait of another wine writer.
