A nice “holdover” from the State Garden Show in 1990. The nicely laid out park is a popular destination and is always worth a walk. :)

The show took place from April 27, 1990 to October 21, 1990. Since 1980 state horticultural shows have been held in every federal state as a supplement to the federal horticultural shows.

The fifth LGS in the Free State of Bavaria took place in the west of Würzburg at the foot of the Marienberg. The LGS extended over an area of 14 hectares and cost 9.2 million euros. The LGS counted a total of 2.5 million visitors and thus set a visitor record. The aim was to extend the Ringpark to the west side of the Main. Therefore, the area of the state horticultural show runs from the Friedensbrücke, past the Nautiland to the northern slope of the fortress mountain. An important topic was the ecological innovations. The first solar cells were installed in the garden, for example to pump water from the Main into the garden. As an exhibition contribution by the Bavarian State Ministry for Regional Development and Environmental Issues, the first Bavarian environmental station in the city of Würzburg was built on the edge of the site.
