Anyone travelling on the Saale Cycle Path will stop here briefly and enjoy the view.Very "long" castle complex, you only notice it on the cycle path :-)

Nice place to rest

The castle itself houses the Burg-Gymnasium (lower and middle castle) and an associated student dormitory (upper castle), and is therefore not open to the public. However, there is a public staircase from the street parallel to the Saale (Lange Reihe). You arrive there between the lower and middle castles and enjoy a beautiful view of the Saale Valley. If you're up for it, you can stroll past the old town hall into the small old town. You could also cycle here, but the streets are sometimes very steep and lead over very bumpy cobblestones.
