The district of Brachwitz is located directly on the Saale and is framed by three nature reserves in the "Lower Saale Valley" nature park. This porphyry landscape, known as the “Brachwitz Alps”, invites you to go hiking, biking or boat tours all year round and impresses above all with the impressive shape of the rock formations as well as the particularly protected dry meadow landscape and unique flora and fauna. In particular, the abundance of orchids and the red porphyry dome, some of which are pierced by small quarries, characterize this nationally important cultural landscape.
