In 1927, Mina Zweigart, the widow of the founder of the renowned Jacquard weaving mill Zweigart & Sawitzki, donated a new statue for the market fountain. Mrs. Zweigart was a great patron of the arts and was eventually made an honorary citizen of Sindelfingen for her efforts.
The fountain statue was designed by Prof. Josef Zeitler from Stuttgart and executed by the Sindelfingen stonemason Robert Friedrich Schäfer. Two women stand on the fountain column. A cat snuggles up to them, purring. The woman on the left is wearing a patterned apron and a headscarf tied in the front. She listens with a mischievous smile to the other woman, who is also wearing an apron. She is somewhat taller and thinner and has tied her hair back in a tight bun. Over her left arm, she carries a basket. Peeking out of it is a rooster she has just bought at the market. To prevent it from escaping, she holds it by its tail feathers. She whispers into the other woman's ear: "Oh, that God has mercy; just think, what do you say to that?"
