In August, the Strabrechtse Heide turns purple. There are dry areas where the sand blows away and wet areas with moors that are teeming with dragonflies. In the middle of the heath lies the Galgenberg, a small piece of open quicksand that is maintained through management measures to preserve the typical flora and fauna. Spurrie, sheep grass and bunt, among others, grow here.
