Lierop had its own church even before 1155. The patron of this church was Saint Salvator. In 1569, Lierop got its own priest and became largely independent of the church.
During the Reformation, Catholics were forbidden to hold services in public. The church of Lierop was appropriated by the Reformation at that time.
In 1664, the people of Lierop had a barn church at their disposal. It was not until after 1821 that they were allowed to use their old church again. It was demolished in 1898 after the current domed church was built in 1892.

Church of the Holy Name Jesus, is a Roman Catholic church at 3 Offermanstraat in the Dutch village of Lierop. The church was built in 1892 to a design by the German architect Carl Weber, who lives in Roermond. The church has four towers and a large, octagonal dome tower above the celebration. The two towers on the north side are 40 meters high and the two towers on the south side 32 meters. The two southern towers were originally higher than the two northern ones. The interior is covered by a round vault and then a dome vault. The dome vault has a height of 42.4 meters. At the front of the church is a model. The church also has Stations of the Cross, a hard stone baptismal font with copper lid and beechwood benches. The church is the highlight of Carl Weber's second period. The church as is on the national monument list, the parsonage on the municipal monument list.
