The monastery was founded in 1614, construction started in 1618. The chapel (now located next to the church) was the first building, completed in 1620; the church was founded in 1624. The oldest wings of the square complex are the northeast and southwest wings, built from 1618; the northwest wing, which closes the courtyard, was probably added in 1638; the extension of the northwest wing towards the northeast dates from around 1665. During the French occupation, the Capuchins left the monastery, which was reoccupied by the Brothers of Charity in 1833. From 1917 onwards the black sisters settled there, later becoming the seat of the OCMW. This monastery was founded in 1614, but construction only began in 1618. In 1620, the chapel was completed, next to the current church. This is the Chapel of Our Lady of Assistance. From 1618, construction began on the northeast and southwest wings, and, probably in 1638, the northeast wing was added. This created a square courtyard, which was customary among the Capuchins. In 1665, the northwest wing was extended in a northeasterly direction.

Around 1796, the monastery was closed, but in 1833 it became a monastery again, now of the Brothers of Charity. From 1917, the Black Sisters moved into this building. They also eventually left. After some time of vacancy, the OCMW was established in the buildings. In 1976, the complex was protected as a monument.
