The mausoleum of the Belgian writer Emile Verhaeren has been located here since 1927, along the banks of the Scheldt.
Emile was born in Sint-Amands on May 21, 1855 and died in Rouen at the age of 61 as a result of a tragic train accident. This tragedy occurred on November 27, 1916.

His remains were initially buried in the Adinkerke cemetery. For safety reasons (WW1), it was transferred to the Wulveringem cemetery at the end of 1917.

The site around the Praalgraf is a quiet, serene place where you can take nice photos of the large bend in the Scheldt. You can capture Scaldis with the setting sun beautifully here.
