The Dannenberg Ost train station is one of two train stations in Dannenberg. It has two platforms, of which only one track is used in timetable traffic.
Occasional special trains run on the route to Lüchow.
After the lines between Dannenberg, Lüchow, Uelzen and Wittenberge were closed, the station was dismantled. So there are still two platforms today, but only the house platform is served. The track next to it leads to the loading station. The building was renovated in 2012 jointly by the city of Dannenberg and the Wendland diaconal institutions.
The JuniorBahnhof, a facility of the Lüchow-Dannenberg district, sells tickets and operates a kiosk. The station is manned by a dispatcher. About a kilometer behind the train station in the direction of Wittenberg is the loading station for castor transports at the end of the route.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnhof_Dannenberg_Ost

Nice, old station building, otherwise there is unfortunately not much going on here, there is no longer a ticket office, just a machine that is very often defective and in front of which long queues regularly form before the train leaves. A second machine would definitely be appropriate here. It's nice that there is still a train going to Lüneburg here and the price is also okay since Dannenberg became part of the HVV (before that it cost about three times as much). In the winter months, the train (the Erixx) is usually completely overheated, so you have to undress down to your T-shirt on the train if you don't want to arrive in Lüneburg completely sweaty. Unfortunately, an older train that has too little bicycle parking space has been used very often recently. I also think it's a shame that there is still no rail connection to Lüchow, although there has been "talk" for decades that this line should be repaired and reopened, but I now believe that it will really happen lost.

The Dannenberger Ostbahnhof, built in the late classical tradition in 1873, was the first and largest train station in Wendland. The structure, the silhouette of which is supposed to be reminiscent of a locomotive, was extensively renovated in 2012 in accordance with the requirements of a listed building.
Once a railway junction, Dannenberg is now the terminus for the "Wendlandbahn", which runs between Lüneburg and Dannenberg every three hours. There are still two platforms, but only one is served. The second track leads to the loading station for Castor transports about one kilometer away.
An unadorned notice informs that the station building has been closed since July 1st, 2019. The note is signed “With best regards, your station team”.
