Osthafen Bridge (1911/13) - FFM 🚴The Osthafen Bridge is a road bridge in Frankfurt am Main. It connects Frankfurt's Ostend district (at the Osthafen) with Sachsenhausen and was opened in 2013. Initial plans for a road bridge in Frankfurt's Osthafen and Deutschherrnufer district were drawn up as early as 1907. However, these plans were discontinued after the completion of the Osthafen in 1912. The steel arched structure has a span of 175 m and a rise of approximately 25 m. The pedestrian and cycle paths on both sides are consistently separated from the road by a gap, allowing daylight to penetrate beneath the bridge. All paths are optimally connected to the existing network of paths. The Main Bridge offers an impressive view of the Frankfurt skyline. There are "city terraces" at the bridgeheads and beautiful, wide staircases at the bridge ends. The structure is particularly visible from a distance at night: the numerous thin, crossed suspension cables are illuminated and create a delicate network of light stripes at night, forming a thin layer over the skyline and the East Harbor.Type: Nielsen Bridge
