The Flößer Bridge connects the Obermainanlage in the city center with the Deutschherrnufer in Sachsenhausen. From afar, their trademark is visible: a 21.50-meter-high green pylon spans this bridle strap bridge. Because of its asymmetry, the bridge in the Frankfurt vernacular is also called "the slippery thing". However, it is one of the busiest bridges in Frankfurt, because over it the federal highway 3 leads exclusively with four lanes, flanked by two pedestrian and bicycle paths.
Originally, the raft bridge was a 207-meter temporary bridge in a steel lattice framework. After 1945, all Frankfurt bridges had been blown up and the Old Bridge - patched together only makeshift - had to cope with too much traffic, this temporary bridge was built in 1964. Initially intended only as a temporary solution, the raft bridge established itself and remained in operation even after the renewal of the Old Bridge. In the years 1984 to 1986 she was rebuilt.
