Lake Adolfosee was created by the mining of sand and gravel. The water is very clear and suitable for diving. Depending on the season, visibility ranges from 2 to 8 meters. From the water, you can see several overgrown concrete islands. These are the remains of four bunkers from the West Wall, which was built between 1938 and 1940 along the western border of the German Reich. However, the lake wasn't created until more than 20 years after the end of the war.
