This railway bridge was part of the route between Hameln and Lage. The entire route was called the “Begataibahn” and connected Hameln with Bielefeld.
The route was discontinued in 1980 and has been a listed building since 1989.

Cycling
The Weser Bridge, completed in 1897, served the Begatalbahn, a connection from Hameln via Bega to Lage and further to Bielefeld. After the bridge was blown up by German pioneers in 1945, it was reopened in 1949. The rail connection has been discontinued since 1980. The future use of the bridge, for example for bicycle and pedestrian traffic, is unclear.
