A magnificent view of the depressions of the Lower Gypsum Holes. Sinkholes form when rainwater seeps through fine cracks in the ground, dissolving rocks such as limestone or gypsum. Over time, cavities grow underground. If the surface layer becomes too thin, it collapses, creating a trough-shaped depression called a doline.
